Real Madrid vs Viktoria Plzen 24/10/18

24 October 2018

Real Madrid will host Viktoria Plzen at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the Champions League Group G, hoping to end a disastrous 5-game winless streak in all competitions.

In the past four La Liga matches, Los Blancos have suffered three defeats, including the shocking one against Levante at home last weekend, while being held to a scoreless draw to city rivals Atletico Madrid. Moreover, it was the first time in the history of Real Madrid that the team has failed to score a goal for 456 minutes. Although Marcelo was the one to break the spell, Los Merengues still can’t find the way to get used to life after Cristiano Ronaldo. If Julen Lopetegui wants to keep his job, a victory over the Czech Republic outfit is an absolute imperative.

In the meantime, the Viktorka started their Champions League journey with an unfortunate 2-2 draw with CSKA Moscow despite having a 2-goal lead at the halftime. However, they’ve miserably failed in the following fixture, having suffered a humiliating 5-0 loss to AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. The current Czech First League holders are second-placed in the domestic championship with a 2-point deficit to Slavia Prague mainly thanks to an awful away performance that some them losing two straight road matches.

Daniel Carvajal will be the only missing player in the home squad, while Jan Kopic won’t be playing for the visitors after picking up an ankle injury.
