Real Madrid vs Real Valladolid 25/08/19
25 August 2019
Real Madrid will begin their 2019/20 La Liga (LL) home campaign this weekend when they take on Real Valladolid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Desperate to put an end to Barcelona’s domination of La Liga, the hosts will look to build on a comfortable 3-1 away win over Celta Vigo in the LL curtain-raiser. Although it was the fifth straight LL game where Los Blancos failed to keep a clean sheet, it was the first one where they’ve scored 2+ match goals after three unsuccessful attempts. Virtually untenable when at home, Los Merengues have won five of their last six LL home outings (W5, L1), netting two or more goals across all of those triumphs. Additionally, Real have won eight straight LL home clashes with Valladolid, all of which have seen them score at least two goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors have enjoyed a promising start to the new LL season having secured a 2-1 away win over Betis in the opening matchday. The fact that all of the goals seen at the Benito Villamarín arrived in the final 30 minutes of the match is not surprising at all, as all seven of Valladolid’s last LL trips witnessed at least one goal beyond the hour mark. Pucelanos have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home in 2019 having conceded at least one goal in 12 trips across all competitions since the turn of the year. In the same period, they’ve secured just three wins, all of which have ended with the same 2-1 scoreline (W3, D3, L6).
