Real Madrid vs Granada 05/10/19

5 October 2019

Real Madrid will entertain Granada at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for the La Liga (LL) clash this weekend desperate to bounce back after a shock 2-2 home draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League.

Sitting at the top of the league table, the hosts are the only side in Spain’s top-flight that is yet to suffer a defeat this season (W4, D3). A goalless away draw with Atletico Madrid last time out has halted Real’s three-game LL winning streak. However, it was the third consecutive league match in which Los Blancos managed to keep a blank sheet, with only two teams shipping fewer LL goals than Real (6) this term. Also, Los Merengues have secured back-to-back LL wins at this venue ahead of this clash, breaking the deadlock in all three LL home fixtures to date. A run of good home form can only improve here, as Zinedine Zidane’s side clinched all six league H2Hs with Granada since the turn of the new millennium, four of which have seen them win to nil.

Meanwhile, a few top-flight teams have left such a good impression as the visitors this, with Granada righteously sitting just one point adrift of Real Madrid (W4, D2, L1). Notably, all four of their LL triumphs have arrived in the last five rounds of the league fixtures (D1), seeing them beat their rivals without conceding a single goal. Impressively, ten of 13 LL goals ‘Nazaríes’ have netted so far have come away from home, with Diego Martinez’s men bagging 2+ match goals in three of four LL trips. But, the traveling side should be wary of immense defensive problems on the road, as 83.33% of their conceded league goals have arrived away from home (five of six).
