Real Madrid vs Eibar 06/04/19
6 April 2019
Real Madrid and Eibar go head-to-head at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu as the hosts looking to get their revenge on a shock 3-0 loss in the first half of the season.
Midweek’s 2-1 road loss to Valencia has ended Real’s hopes of closing the gap on Barcelona, but they are confident of securing the Champions League football as they sit third with an 11-point lead over fifth-placed Sevilla. Real Madrid’s recent competitive outings have not been short of entertainment, with four of five of their last games across all competitions providing over 2.5 goals. Although Los Blancos have kept a clean sheet on Zinedine Zidane’s second debut, their defensive frailties have seen them concede over 1.5 goals in both of their previous LL fixtures. Oddly, Los Merengues have conceded at least one goal in six of their last eight home games across all competitions, allowing 2+ match goals five times in the process.
Meanwhile, a promising haul of eight points from their previous five LL outings (W2, D2, L1) have fired the visitors ten points clear of the relegation territory. Still, far more comfortable at home, Los Armeros have barely secured one triumph on the road for the entire campaign (W1, D7, L6), failing to pick up all three points in 10 of their previous LL road trips (D6, L4). Interestingly, all five of Eibar’s last road stalemates have ended with goals on both ends, with three of them ending with the same 2-2 scoreline. However, José Luis Mendilibar’s men have lost four of their last five H2Hs with Real at this venue (D1, L4), allowing 3+ match goals three times in that period.
