Real Madrid vs Alaves 24/02/18

25 February 2018

Although Real Madrid have had a slow start of the season, and virtually lost any chance of catching Barcelona, they have finally started to show brilliant performances from last season, especially in the attack, as they have scored nineteen goals in their last five La Liga games. After two stunning victories over Deportivo La Coruna and Real Sociedad at home in which they’ve put the ball into the net twelve times, Los Blancos are looking to further improve their goal difference. On the other hand, Alaves players are hopeful they can get a positive result at the Santiago Bernabeu to increase their chances of avoiding relegation, following three consecutive wins. However, considering El Glorioso’s defensive displays, they will hardly leave the Spanish capital without conceding a couple of goals.

Marcelo will watch the game from the stands thanks to an injury he picked up against Leganes, and he could also miss the Champions League second leg against Paris Saint-Germain, but Theo Hernandez is expected to take his place, as he performed superbly after coming off the bench last Wednesday. Sergio Ramos is suspended, while Luka Modric and Jesus Vallejo are set to miss the match due to injuries. The appearance of Toni Kroos still hangs in the balance.

Abelardo’s main concern is Munir El Haddadi, who will serve a one-match suspension after collecting his fifth yellow card of the season. Hector Hernandez and Burgui are both seriously injured, and they could miss the rest of the campaign.
