Real Betis vs Valencia 22/04/19

22 April 2019

Sunday’s La Liga action concludes with a tricky clash at the Estadio Benito Villamarín as Real Betis and Valencia face-off against each other.

Sitting ninth in the table with a three-point deficit to seventh-placed Athletic Bilbao, the hosts are going through the most challenging period this campaign. Los Verdiblancos have not only secured just one triumph in their last five LL outings, but all three of their defeats in that period have been accompanied by 2+ conceded goals (W1, D1, L3). What’s more, Verderones have enjoyed little success in their previous six home games across all competitions (W1, D2, L3) with all of those clashes producing goals on both ends. Betis’ defensive frailties have seen them allow over 1.5 match goals in six of their last ten competitive home meetings with seven of those fixtures featuring over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors go into this encounter off the back of a 2-0 home win over Villarreal that has seen them sealing their place in the Europa League semi-final. It was Valencia’s third straight victory across all competitions, and it was also the fourth time in their last five games that Marcelino Garcia Toral’s men have managed to score over 1.5 match goals. A lack of consistency has seen the Bats enduring mixed fortunes on the road in 2019 as they’ve secured three wins in seven LL away fixtures since the turn of the year (W3, D2, L2). Also, considering the fact the Oranges have pulled off just one victory on seven of their previous visits to this venue (W1, D2, L4), it seems like a daunting prospect for Valencia to pick up all three points here.
