RB Leipzig vs Rennes 27/07/19
27 July 2019
RB Leipzig and Rennes go head-to-head at the Stadion am Bad Großfeld for a friendly fixture, as both sides look to improve on their form.
The Red Bulls have so far played out two friendlies in their summer preparations. They have secured a 3-2 win over Galatasaray after suffering a shock 4-1 defeat to Zurich. A victory over the Turkish outfit has brought Leipzig’s five-game winless streak to a halt (D2, L3), but has seen their defensive problems continue to trouble Julian Nagelsmann. The Bundesliga side has struggled to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last nine outings, allowing over 1.5 match goals in their previous four games. Also, they have scored one goal or less in four straight matches before facing Galatasaray last time out.
Meanwhile, the French team has yet to register a victory in their pre-season (D2, L1), with all three of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. Interestingly, six of Rennes’ last nine games have ended in a draw (W2, D6, L1), with five of those stalemates seeing both teams score. Still, if Les Rennais manage to pull off a win here, it will probably see Leipzig concede two or more goals, considering all nine of their last triumphs saw them beat their rivals by scoring multiple goals. But, Julien Stéphan has to worry about the fact that his players have kept a clean sheet just twice in their previous ten outings, allowing over 1.5 match goals four times in the process.
