RB Leipzig vs Fortuna Dusseldorf 18/06/20

18 June 2020

RB Leipzig and Fortuna Dusseldorf will lock horns at the Red Bull Arena this midweek, as the hosts look to extend an unbeaten run in their Bundesliga (BL) H2Hs to four games (W2, D1).

A 2-0 away win over TSG Hoffenheim last time out has brought Leipzig’s unbeaten league run to 12 (W5, D7), as they look to solidify their top-four position against the side, whom they’ve outplayed in three of their four previous competitive H2Hs (D1). But, the hosts have failed to pick up a win in each of their last four top-flight home fixtures (D4), with three of those draws producing the identical 1-1 scoreline. Surprisingly slow home starters, Julian Naglesmann’s side, have shipped the opening goal in eight of 15 BL home matches, although they returned 11 points from such games (W2, D5, L1).

As for the visitors, they head to Leipzig on a run of three consecutive league fixtures without a win (D1, L2), drawing a blank in both of those defeats. In turn, Dusseldorf have failed to secure a win in five from six league road trips since the turn of the year (D3, L2), with each of those three results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day keep a clean sheet. If they concede the opening goal here, as they did in eight of 15 BL away matches this season, the ‘Flingeraner’ are unlikely to walk away with three points – Dusseldorf pulled off three draws and lost the other five such fixtures.
