Rangers vs Celtic 11/03/18

11 March 2018

One of the biggest derbies in world football will take place at the Ibrox Stadium this weekend, as Rangers are set to host the Glasgow heavyweights Celtic. Although the Hoops are slight favorites to win the match, anything can happen in the Old Firm especially considering Rangers’ recent performances. The Gers have won four consecutive matches in the Scottish Premiership, including a stunning 5-3 victory over Hamilton, scoring thirteen goals in total. Meanwhile, Celtic dropped six points in their previous five road games, as they’ve lost to Kilmarnock and Hearts. The Light Blues’ potential win could see them only three points behind their arch-rivals, and there’s no doubt they are going to give maximum effort to outscore the league leaders.

Graham Dorrans, who underwent surgery on his ankle last December, should return to action later this month, but he is ruled out for the derby, while Lee Wallace and Ryan Jack are fighting their way back from injuries, and they could be on Graeme Murty’s list. The Scottish champions will be decimated by injuries suffered by Jonny Hayes, Stuart Armstrong, Nir Bitton, Dedryck Boyata, Leigh Griffiths, and the first-choice goalkeeper, Craig Gordon. The vice-captain, Mikael Lustig, is suspended after picking up a red card against Aberdeen. Therefore, Brendan Rodgers will be obliged to make drastic changes in his starting lineup.
