PSV Eindhoven vs Tottenham Hotspur 25/10/18
25 October 2018
The two teams who lost both Premier League encounters so far, will look to end a bad streak, as PSV Eindhoven prepare to host Tottenham Hotspur at the Phillips Stadium.
The Farmers have suffered a humiliating 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at Camp Nou on the opening matchday, after which they’ve dropped a goal lead against Inter Milan only to see the Italians walking away from Phillips Stadium with all three points. Apart from the two Champions League failures, the Red and Whites have been outstanding this season, as they currently top the Dutch Eredivisie with a maximum of nine triumphs and an astonishing +33 goal difference. In the last two league matches, Mark van Bommel’s side notched ten goals without conceding once in the process.
On the other hand, the Spurs have failed on the opening matchday, having dropped a goal lead in the final 10 minutes of the game against the Nerazzurri, before suffering a 4-2 loss to Barcelona at the Wembley Stadium. Mauricio Pochettino’s team managed to overcome a tough period where they lost three consecutive matches in all competitions, as they’ve won five out of the previous six encounters, including the one against Cardiff City last weekend. However, the London outfit needs a victory against the Dutch champions if looking to keep their chances of advancing to the knockout stage alive.
Ryan Thomas and Maximiliano Romero are ruled out with injuries in the home squad, while Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose, Victor Wanyama and Dele Alli all struggle with injuries in the visiting team.
