Portugal vs Morocco 20/06/18
20 June 2018
After a brave performance against Spain in the opening match of Group B, Portugal are set to continue their World Cup journey, as they are looking to take on Morocco at the Luzhniki Arena in Moscow. A stunning display from Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored his first ever hat-trick at the World Cup, has secured A Seleção das Quinas a draw against the group favorites and increased their chances to advance to the knockout stage. On the other hand, Morocco, who were slight favorites against Iran, have failed to leave up to expectations, eventually losing the tie by an injury-time own-goal scored by Aziz Bouhaddouz. The Atlas Lions are obliged to capture all three points against much stronger opponents if looking to keep their hopes of avoiding elimination alive. As for Portugal, a potential victory would almost certainly lead them to the round of 16, as the current European champions will be facing off against Iran in the third match of the group.
Fernando Santos will have all of his players fit and ready for the encounter, while Hervé Renard probably won’t have Nordin Amrabat at his disposal. The Leganes player has suffered a concussion against Iran after clashing heads with Vahid Amiri, and his appearance still hangs in the balance.
