Porto vs Krasnodar 14/08/19

14 August 2019

Porto and Krasnodar go head-to-head at the Estádio do Dragão for the return leg of their Champions League Qualifiers tie, as the visitors hope to overcome a one-goal deficit from the first leg.

Although Sergio Oliveira’s 89th-minute free-kick helped the Dragons walk away from the Krasnodar Stadium with full pockets, they go into this fixture off the back of a shock 2-1 away loss to Gil Vicente in the Primeira Liga opener. The hosts are not enjoying the best of times having pulled off two wins in their last five outings (W2, D1, L2), with Sérgio Conceição’s men scoring one goal or less in four of those matches. However, the Portuguese heavyweights have clinched five wins in their previous six home games across all competitions (W5, L1), four of which have been accompanied by a blank slate. Moreover, eight of Porto’s 11 home wins in all competitions since the turn of the year has seen them beat their rivals to nil while ten have seen them score 2+ match goals.

Meanwhile, the visitors have endured mixed fortunes at the beginning of the 2019-20 season (W3, D1, L2), with three of those games ending with the identical 1-0 scoreline (W1, L2). Interestingly though, the Bulls have sustained just one loss in their last eight away games across all competitions (W3, D4, L1), with all of those stalemates ending with the same 1-1 scoreline. Also, all three of Krasnodar’s away triumphs in 2019 have seen them score three or more goals, with Murad Musayev’s players keeping a clean sheet in two. However, the Black-Greens have suffered three defeats in their last four away games in European competitions (D1, L3), all of which have been accompanied by at least two goals in their net.
