Porto vs AS Monaco 28/07/19

28 July 2019

Porto and AS Monaco go head-to-head at the Estádio do Dragão for a friendly fixture that sees the hosts trying to stretch their winning run in H2Hs to five games.

The Portuguese giants have so far played out three friendlies this summer (W2, D1), with two of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. As a result, the Dragons are now unbeaten after 90 minutes in their last nine outings (W6, D3). Four of those wins have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin although Porto have been on the front foot before the halftime break four times too. A potential worry for Sérgio Conceição could be that his players have struggled to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five games, though they have not allowed over 1.5 goals per match in that period.

Meanwhile, Les Monégasques’s pre-season campaign is well underway, with the French side enduring mixed fortunes in their previous six summer friendlies (W2, D1, L3). Interestingly, all three of their previous matches have featured under 1.5 goals, while all three preceding produced three or more goals. Leonardo Jardim will be desperate to see his team building on a two-game unbeaten run after overseeing genuinely disappointing displays from his side for the past two months. Les Rouges et Blancs have pulled off a total three wins in their last 15 outings (W3, D4, L8), netting one goal or less in seven of those failures.
