Poland vs Chile 09/06/18

9 June 2018

With less than ten days left to the 2018 FIFA World Cup kick-off, Poland, who played their last match almost three months ago, are set to host Chile at the Stadion Miejski in Poznań, looking to secure their second consecutive victory after a 3-2 win over South Korea last weekend. The White and Reds comfortably topped their qualifying group with eight wins out of ten matches, ahead of Denmark and Montenegro allowing only one defeat during the entire qualifiers. However, after the end of the qualification process, Adam Nawałka’s team managed to pull off just one victory out of four games, losing two times, to Mexico and Nigeria, both by a narrow one-goal margin. On the other hand, Chile, who failed to book a ticket to Russia, faced off four European teams this year, achieving two victories in the process, including a 1-0 win over Serbia earlier this week.

These two sides never played against each other in history. However, Poland faced off five South American teams over 20 friendly games in the past, with a horrible record of 11 defeats and just 4 wins.

Nawałka will field his best starting eleven looking to prepare his squad for the World Cup as best as possible, while La Roja head coach, Reinaldo Rueda, decided to omit some of his best players including Vidal, Sanchez, and Vargas, to give some of the local-based players a chance to prove their worth.
