Pohang Steelers vs Ulsan Hyundai 06/06/20

06 June 2020

Pohang Steelers and Ulsan Hyundai will face-off against each other at the Pohang Steel Yard, with the home side looking to extend their winning streak in K League 1 H2Hs to three games.

The hosts have endured mixed fortunes in the opening four rounds of the league fixtures (W2, D1, L1), with each of those matches featuring at least one goal in both halves of play. Particularly dangerous in the early stages, Pohang have already found the back of the net four times inside the opening 25 minutes of play. A 2-1 defeat to Seoul in their previous home outing has brought Pohang’s eight-game unbeaten league home run to an end, last season included (W6, D2). But, taking into account their home results from October 2019, the ‘Steelers’ have scored at least once in 12 of their last 13 top-flight home matches, bagging over 1.5 goals on six of those occasions.

Meanwhile, unbeaten after four league matches of 2020/21 (W2, D2), the visitors are eager to break a two-game losing run in K League 1 away H2Hs. Curiously, each of Ulsan’s last five top-flight away fixtures have ended separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W3, D1, L1), with three of them seeing over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Ulsan tend to gear up after the halftime break, having managed six of their nine league goals scored so far in the second half of play.
