Pohang Steelers vs Incheon United 26/07/20

26 July 2020

In-form Pohang Steelers welcome rock-bottom Incheon United to the Pohang Steel Yard seeking a third consecutive win in the Korea K League 1 H2Hs.

The hosts have sealed four wins from their last five league matches (D1), all of which produced a full-time margin of at least two goals and saw them score at least once beyond the hour mark. Curiously, just one of Pohang’s six K League 1 home games this term has ended in a draw (W2, L3), with each of those results (win/loss) seeing the winner on the day find the net at least once beyond the 60-minute mark and score over 1.5 goals in total. A draw seems to be a highly unlikely outcome here, given that only one of their last 12 top-flight H2Hs held at this venue has ended in a stalemate (W7, L4).

As for the visitors, they are still chasing an elusive first top-flight win of the season (D4, L8) and remain one of just two teams yet to smash a 10-goal barrier. Indeed, despite finding the net in each of their last three K League 1 outings, the ‘Mariners’ lament the division’s worst scoring record, having netted a miserable average of 0.5 goals per league fixture. Additionally, a lack of concentration up front has seen Incheon draw a blank in four of six league trips this campaign (D1, L5), with just one of their two away goals scored so far coming from open play.
