Parma and Juventus will kick off the 2019-20 Serie A (SA) season at the Stadio Ennio Tardini this weekend, as the visitors look to stretch their unbeaten run in H2H meetings to three games (W1, D1).

The hosts have started the new season off on the right foot having secured a comfortable 3-1 home win over the Italian lower-league side Venezia in the first round of Coppa Italia. Although unbeaten at home in their last four SA outings, the Crusaders have pulled off just one triumph in that period (W3, D1), netting one goal or less on three occasions in the process. What’s more, they’ve clinched only one victory in their previous six home H2Hs with Juventus across all competitions (W1, D2, L3), with four of those clashes featuring under 2.5 goals. Another problem for Roberto D’Aversa could be his team’s lack of creativity in the final third. Having scored just 18 home SA goals in the entire 2018/19 league campaign, Parma’s attack was the third-worst in the Italian top tier.

Meanwhile, the visitors now go after their ninth successive SA title, looking for a fresh start after a disappointing end to the last season. The reigning SA holders have struggled to pick up a win in the final five games of the 2018/19 league campaign (D3, L2). While both of those losses saw the Bianconeri beaten by the identical 2-0 scoreline, three of those stalemates have ended with a 1-1 scoreline. Nonetheless, no team has secured more away points than Juventus last term (41), with the Turin giants achieving 13 wins in 19 SA trips (68.42%). Established themselves as one of the best defensive teams in Europe, Juventus have allowed just 17 goals away from home last season – league’s best defensive record.
