Parma vs Inter Milan 10/02/19

10 February 2019

Highly motivated after pulling off an outstanding comeback against Juventus last weekend, Parma host a struggling Inter Milan side to the Stadio Ennio Tardini hoping to end a four-game SA home winless streak (D2, L2).

Currently stationed in the middle of the table, the hosts are closer to the European promotion zone than the relegation territory in spite of poor results in the last couple of months. A lack of consistency has seen Parma secure just two victories in their previous nine SA meetings (W2, D3, L4), with both of those successes arriving away from home. The Crusaders’ indifferent home form (W3, D4, L4) could be a potential worry for Roberto D’Aversa, especially considering three of their four home losses came against the top-four Serie A teams. Another troubling fact for the Emilians concerns their disappointing displays in the final third that have seen them score under 1.5 goals per match in seven of 11 SA home clashes this term.

Meanwhile, getting back to winning ways in this fixture is imperative for the visitors, whose Champions League promotion got rocked by the recent failures. Having allowed other UCL contestants to reduce the gap to five points, the Nerazzurri are desperate to bring a three-game SA winless run (D1, L2) to an end. However, the Milanese giants have clinched just one triumph on their last six SA road trips (W1, D2, L3), scoring under 1.5 goals per match in five. Under-fire Luciano Spalletti has to find a way to drag his team out of a severe goalscoring crisis that has seen his team bagging over 1.5 goals per match barely three times in the previous 15 top-flight outings. The only thing that can console the Italian tactician is that his players kept four clean sheets in their last eight SA meetings, restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match in the remaining four.
