Paris Saint-Germain vs Strasbourg 14/09/19

14 September 2019

Paris Saint-Germain and Strasbourg go head-to-head at Parc des Princes, with the hosts looking to beat a team who they failed to outplay in both of their Ligue 1 (L1) H2Hs last season (D2).

Sitting at the top of the table, the defending champions have won three of four L1 games at the beginning of the new season (W3, L1), beating their rivals to nil each time. Taking their home record from last season into account, the Parisians have won 19 of their previous 21 league home matches (D2), with each of their last three L1 home triumphs being accompanied by a clean sheet. What’s more, PSG’s intimidating home record against Strasbourg in the 21st century can only encourage Thomas Tuchel, as PSG won nine of ten competitive home H2Hs (W9, D1), netting 2+ match goals in seven of those clashes.

Meanwhile, the visitors are winless in the league this term (D3, L1), with three of those games featuring under 2.5 goals. For Strasbourg, most of the action takes part inside the hour mark, as seven of eight goals scored at their L1 games so far came before the 60th minute. It will be only their second L1 away match for them this season following a goalless draw with Reims, which was their fifth stalemate in the last seven league trips (W1, D4, L2). Notably, five of those games have featured under 1.5 goals with the remaining two ending with the identical 2-2 scoreline.
