Paris Saint-Germain vs Nantes 04/04/19

4 April 2019

Paris Saint-Germain and Nantes go head-to-head for their Coupe de France semi-finals clash as the Parisians look to extend their 12-game winning run over Nantes at Parc des Princes.

The defending Ligue 1 champions have virtually secured back-to-back league titles, but given they’ve already exited the Champions League and Coupe de la Ligue, this is their only chance to claim extra silverware this season. Interestingly, PSG’s last home loss in domestic competitions has seen them dumped out of Coupe de la Ligue as Guingamp walked away from a stunning turnaround to reach the semis. Since then, the Parisians have pulled off eight straight home wins in France, scoring 30 goals while keeping five clean sheets in the process. Another promising fact for Thomas Tuchel is that his players have bagged 3+ match goals in four of their last five home games across all competitions while allowing over 1.5 goals per match only once.

The visitors, on the other hand, are not exactly enjoying a purple patch of form given they’ve lost both of their last two competitive clashes – both by a narrow 1-goal margin. Nantes’ road form should certainly trouble Vahid Halilhodzic considering his players have seven of their last 11 road trips across all competitions (W3, D1, L7), with all five of their previous away failures saw them losing by the identical 1-0 scoreline. In the same period, Les Canaris have scored one goal or less in ten games, finding the back of the net before the halftime just once. However, Halilhodzic can be more than satisfied with his team’s impressive defensive displays that have seen them kept four clean sheets in their last six road clashes while restricting their opponents to a maximum of one goal in the remaining two.
