Paris Saint-Germain vs Dijon 19/05/19
19 May 2019
Paris Saint-Germain’s last Ligue 1 home match of the season sees them welcoming the relegation-threatened Dijon to Parc des Princes.
A tight 2-1 away win over Angers last time out has brought the hosts’ three-game winless run across all competitions to a halt (D2, L1), but it was the eighth straight competitive match in which they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet. Interestingly, all seven of PSG’s last L1 games have seen both team score, with Thomas Tuchel’s men allowing over 1.5 match goals four times in that period. However, the Parisians still boast an almost perfect home record (W16, D2), as they remain the only team in the French top tier that has yet to lose a home game this term. Additionally, their tally of 59 goals scored at home is by far L1’s high, with the defending champions netting 2+ match goals in 14 of 18 L1 home outings this term.
Meanwhile, the visitors sit two points adrift of 17th-placed AS Monaco, and with two L1 fixtures left to go, they need to make something out of this game. However, it will be a daunting prospect for Dijon to pick up a win against PSG at Parc des Princes, as they’ve lost all four of their previous competitive H2Hs at this venue without scoring a single goal. What’s more, Les Rouges have suffered nine defeats in their last ten L1 away games (W1, L9), failing to find the net across all of those losses. Interestingly, the Mustards have been trailing at the halftime only three times across those failures, with five of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline.
