Paris Saint-Germain vs Crvena Zvezda 04/10/18
04 October 2018
After suffering a 3-2 defeat against Liverpool on the opening Champions League matchday, Paris Saint-Germain will be hosting Serbian champions, Crvena Zvezda, at the Parcdes Princes seeking their first European victory this season.
The Parisians have been outstanding in the Ligue 1 this year, achieving a maximum of eight triumphs, while scoring at least three goals in each of those matches. Only last weekend, the defending champions outclassed OGC Nice on the road, clinching a 3-0 win. In four home games so far, Thomas Tuchel’s side scored a total of fourteen goals while conceding just two in the process, and it’s unlikely to see that streak ending this midweek.
On the other hand, the visitors are topping the Serbian Super Liga with a record of nine wins and a draw after the opening ten fixtures. The Red-Whites have won their last two league encounters with Napredak Krusevac and Mladost Lucani, notching five and conceding one goal in the process. Meanwhile, in the Champions League opener against Napoli at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, the 1991 European Cup winners have snatched a draw, enduring a tough 90-minute period against the likes of Lorenzo Insigne and Arkadiusz Milik.
Tuchel won’t have Gianluigi Buffon, Dani Alves, Layvin Kurzawa, Lassana Diarra, and Julian Draxler at his disposal as all are sidelined with injuries, while Thomas Meunier should start from the bench after suffering a minor foot injury. In the meantime, Vladan Milojevic hopes to see Nenad Krsticic, Milan Rodic, Vujadin Savic, and Richmond Boakye fit and ready for the big showdown, while Nikola Stojiljkovic expected to remain on the stands due to a muscle problem.
