Osasuna vs Real Sociedad

Osasuna and Real Sociedad are set to lock horns at the Estadio Gal in an all-La Liga summer friendly.

Osasuna spent most of last season battling and bruising in a keenly-contested European race in La Liga and eventually had to settle for a place in the Europa Conference League playoffs. An impressive seventh-place finish at the expense of non-other than Athletic Bilbao must have bolstered Osasuna’s spirits, as evidenced by back-to-back friendly wins by a combined score of 7-0. Indeed, Jagoba Arrasate’s men are about to take the field in a buoyant mood after clocking four triumphs in their last five matches (L1). Osasuna’s purple patch might increase their chances of snapping a poor-looking five-match losing run against Real Sociedad, not to mention they lost both top-flight H2Hs in 2022/23 via an identical 2-0 scoreline.

However, Real Sociedad won’t shy away from the challenge, especially after landing a Champions League berth for the first time in a decade, courtesy of an outstanding fourth-place finish in La Liga last season. Imanol Alguacil’s side signed off in style, racking up three wins in four league fixtures down the final stretch (L1), including a 2-1 victory at newly-crowned champions Barcelona, making them the only La Liga side to take all three points at Camp Nou in 2022/23. Connoisseurs of action-packed football will relish Sociedad’s return to action, as four of their last five matches have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring, highlighting the potential for a ‘goal-friendly’ meeting.
