Olympique Lyonnais vs Angers 17/08/19

17 August 2019

Olympique Lyonnais kick off their home 2019-20 campaign this week as they welcome Angers to the Groupama Stadium.

The hosts have secured a commanding 3-0 away win over AS Monaco in the Ligue 1 opener, stretching their winning run in competitive games to four. Free-scoring Lyon side has netted over 2.5 match goals across all four of those triumphs, keeping a clean sheet three times in the process. Also, Les Gones have been ruthless when at home in 2019, pulling off six wins in nine league home games since the turn of the year (W6, D2, L1). Notably, eight of those matches have seen both teams score, with just one of them featuring under 2.5 goals. Determined to build on a promising start to the season, Sylvinho’s men will now look to extend their unbeaten home streak against Angers to four games (W2, D1).

Meanwhile, just like their upcoming rivals, the visitors have started the new season off on the right foot, clinching a comfortable 3-1 home victory over Bordeaux. Interestingly, five of their six pre-season games have witnessed goals at both ends with four of those matches featuring over 2.5 goals. Still, Angers’ indifferent road form when it comes to their competitive outings can be a problem here (W2, D2, L2). While both of their wins in that period ended with the same 1-0 scoreline, Les Scoïstes have conceded over 1.5 match goals in the remaining four games while failing to find the back of the net only once along the way.
