Olympique de Marseille vs LOSC Lille 26/01/19

26 January 2019

A struggling Olympique de Marseille team welcome an in-form LOSC Lille to the Stade Vélodrome looking to secure back-to-back Ligue 1 wins for the first time since November.

Last weekend’s 1-0 road win over Caen has brought Marseille’s ten-game winless run in all competitions to an end (D3, L7). The Phocaeans are winless in the previous four home outings (D1, L3), having scored one goal or less in each. Marseille’s immense problems in the final third have seen them score under 1.5 goals per match in nine of their last ten competitive games, failing to hit the target three times in the process. Five of the Olympians’ last six meetings in all competitions have produced under 2.5 goals, while three of them ended with the identical 1-1 scoreline.

On the other hand, the visitors have racked up a four-game winning run in all competitions, conceding one goal or less in that period. What’s more, Les Dogues have gone from three consecutive road defeats to four successive triumphs. They now have a chance to post third straight Ligue 1 victory for the first time this season. Four of LOSC’s last six competitive meetings have produced over 2.5 goals with both teams hitting the net in each. A potential worry for Christophe Galtier could be that his players failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last eight road trips, conceding over 1.5 goals per match four times in the process.
