Nurnberg vs Bayern Munich 29/04/19
29 April 2019
The Bundesliga relegation fighters and the title contenders go head-to-head on Sunday as Nurnberg host Bayern Munich to the Max-Morlock-Stadion.
Rooted deep in the danger zone, the hosts’ chances of avoiding relegation are minimal, as they need to win all four of their remaining Bundesliga fixtures, including this one and hope that 15th-placed Schalke 04 won’t secure four points by the end of the season. Notably, though, 15 of a total of 18 BL points Nurnberg have collected this term have come at home (83.33%), with Der Club suffering just one defeat in their last five BL home outings (W1, D3, L1). Four of those five clashes have featured under 2.5 match goals, with Boris Schommers’ men restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match in each. However, Die Legende have failed to wrap up all three points in all six of their previous home H2H meetings with Bayern (D4, L2), with all of these games producing under 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors go into this encounter off the back of a 3-2 road win over Werder Bremen in DFB Pokal, which was their fifth straight victory across all competitions. It was also the fifth time in their last seven competitive games that the Bavarians have managed to score over 2.5 match goals, but also the fourth in which they’ve failed to preserve a clean slate. Nonetheless, the reigning BL holders are unbeaten in all seven of their previous away matches across all competitions (W4, D3), with six of those clashes featuring goals on both ends. Notably, Niko Kovac’s men have bagged 3+ match goals four times in that period, scoring in both halves each time.
