Norwich City vs Liverpool 16/02/20

16 February 2020

The Premier League (PL) leaders Liverpool will look to extend their unbeaten top-flight run against the dead-last Norwich City to 12 games (W9, D2) when the two sides lock horns at Carrow Road this weekend.

Nailed to the bottom of the table, the hosts have picked up just one win in five league outings since the turn of the year (D2, L2), with three of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals. The league’s joint-worst defensive record (47 goals shipped) is one of the main reasons the Canaries sit seven points adrift of the safe zone. Moreover, they’ve kept just one clean sheet in 12 PL home games so far this season, with 53.19% of their total PL goals shipped coming at Carrow Road. Particularly vulnerable in the second half, Daniel Farke’s men have conceded 64% (16) of the 25 home goals after the break. Norwich are unlikely to improve their disastrous defensive record here, as they’ve lost all five of their previous top-flight home H2Hs with Liverpool, allowing over 2.5 goals in the last four.

In the meantime, huge pre-match favorites, the visitors have racked up 16 consecutive league victories to create a staggering 22-point lead over second-placed Manchester City. Impressively, nine of those triumphs have been accompanied by a clean sheet, including the seven of the last eight, with 14 seeing Liverpool score two goals or more. Furthermore, just six of their 15 league goals conceded came away from home (40%), as Jurgen Klopp’s side remain the only one yet to allow over 1.5 goals per PL away fixture. In turn, six of the Reds’ 11 PL road wins have seen them shut out their rivals (54.55%), although seven of them yielded a single-goal margin (63.64%). Therefore, it’s no strange that the Merseyside giants have opened the scoring in ten of 12 PL road trips so far this season (83%) and managed to hold on to the lead each time.
