Nimes Olympique vs Paris Saint-Germain 01/09/18

01 September 2018

For the second time in history, Nimes Olympique and Paris Saint-Germain will face off against each other, with the match between the two sides scheduled to take place at the Stade des Costières. Les Crocodiles have clinched two impressive wins, over Angers and Marseille, in which they’ve scored seven goals combined after securing promotion back to Ligue 1 for the first time since the 1992–1993 season. However, Bernard Blaquart’s side failed to produce a desirable performance against Toulouse last weekend, suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat on the road, and a match against the Ligue 1 holders will hardly help the team find the lost rhythm. The Parisians have already started to demonstrate their dominance, capturing three straight victories, over Caen, Guingamp, and Angers, in which they’ve found the back of the net nine times. Additionally, the Red and Blues have already won one trophy this year thanks to an outstanding 4-0 win over AS Monaco in the French Super Cup Final, and it seems they don’t have a real competitor on their way to the new league title.

Rachid Alioui, who has suffered a knee injury, won’t be able to help his teammates. As for the visitors, Dani Alves will remain on the sidelines, while the appearance of Marco Verratti and Layvin Kurzawa still hangs in the balance.
