Nice vs PSG 20/09/20

20 September 2020

Nice will be hoping to put an end to their five-game winless Ligue 1 run against Paris Saint-Germain (D1, L4) when the two sides meet at the Allianz Riviera this weekend.

A 3-1 away loss to Montpellier last time out brought Nice’s perfect Ligue 1 start (W2) to a halt. Curiously, each of their three league results (wins/loss) this term has seen the winner on the day score in both halves. Notably, all Allianz Riviera has been a venue of entertainment this calendar year, as all six of Nice’s Ligue 1 home games in 2020 have seen both teams score, with five producing over 2.5 goals. Another high-scoring affair is on the cards now, as all six of PSG’s previous top-flight visits have contained at least three goals, with three featuring more than 3.5 goals and both teams hitting the net.

Meanwhile, after failing to find the back of the net in the opening two Ligue 1 fixtures (L2), under-strength PSG picked up a late win over Metz on Matchday 3, which means all three of their league games this season have yielded the exact 1-0 scoreline. Despite struggling in front of the goal lately, ‘Les Parisiens’ must be confident of getting on the scoresheet a couple of times here, given they’ve netted over 1.5 goals in all of their last three Ligue 1 trips to Nice. Interestingly, Thomas Tuchel’s men have enjoyed most of the possession this term, keeping the ball at their feet 70% of the time on average.
