Nice vs Paris Saint-Germain 19/10/19
19 October 2019
Nice and Paris Saint-Germain launch this weekend’s Ligue 1 (L1) action at the Allianz Riviera.
The hosts have been put to the sword by Nantes last time out, as they’ve lost 1-0 on the road on the eve of the international break, stretching their winless L1 run to three games (D1, L2). Each of those three matches has seen Nice score on goal or less, although only one witnessed them allow more than one. Interestingly, three of Nice’s four home league games this term have ended with the identical 2-1 scoreline (W2, L1), with the eventual winners leading at the break on two occasions in the process. Les Aiglons will now try to put an end to their frustrating four-game winless streak against PSG in H2Hs (D1, L3), although their recent H2H record at home suggests it will be a daunting prospect. Patrick Vieira’s men have lost five of their last six L1 home clashes with PSG (W1), with five of those matches producing over 2.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the visitors have put together two straight wins ahead of this trip, both of which have seen them beat their rivals to nil. In fact, all seven of PSG’s league triumphs so far have been accompanied by a clean sheet, with three of them ending with the same 1-0 scoreline. On the other hand, both of the Parisians’ L1 defeats have been followed by precisely two goals in their net, each coming in one half. Curiously, all four of PSG’s previous trips in all competitions have featured under 2.5 goals (W4), with three ending with the same 1-0 scoreline. In spite of their recent problems in the final third, Thomas Tuchel’s players have scored more goals than any other side in France’s top-flight (17), netting an average of 2.42 goals per league fixture.
