Newcastle United vs Man Utd. 11/02/18

11 February 2018

Following a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace, Newcastle United will host Manchester United at St’ James Park.

Newcastle’s hopes of avoiding relegation this season are brought into question, as the Magpies are continuously slipping down the table since November. After eight consecutive home games without a single win, Rafael Benitez is desperate to achieve a good result against the Red Devils.

Manchester United have a decent season after a slow start, as they are trying to secure Champions League promotion. United have won five of their last seven games on the road before losing to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.

Newcastle have suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Manchester at the Old Trafford in the first half of the season, and the Reds are looking to replicate the same scenario.
Leicester City loanee, Islam Slimani, could replace Joselu upfront, while Karl Darlow could make way for Martin Dubravka between the posts because the first-choice goalkeeper Rob Elliot is still out due to injury. The experienced defender Jesus Gomez has undergone ankle surgery, and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Jose Mourinho won’t be able to use Marouane Fellaini, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Eric Bailey, with the latter two, might return to the field at the end of February.
