Napoli vs Internazionale 06/03/20

6 March 2020

Internazionale head to the Stadio San Paolo to take on Napoli in the return leg of their Coppa Italia semi-finals tie, hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

The hosts have won half (four) of their eight competitive home games since the turn of the year (D1, L3), scoring over 1.5 goals in each success while conceding at least two goals in each defeat. Yet, Gennaro Gattuso seems to have left his fingerprint on Napoli’s mentality, with 76.92% (ten) of their 13 matches in 2020 ending separating the sides by under 1.5 goals (W8, D1, L4). Also, 33.33% (four) of the results (win/loss) in that stretch have produced the identical 1-0 scoreline, with three of them seeing the winner coming in the second half of play. The majority of Napoli’s good work in the recent period has come after the break, as 11 of their last 15 goals scored arrived in the second half (73.33%).

Meanwhile, the visitors have won three of five competitive away games in the new calendar year (D1, L1), with each of those victories yielding a two-goal margin. Indeed, the Nerazzurri need a winning margin of multiple goals to advance to the final, and they can do it as well, considering all ten of their competitive away successes this season have seen them score at least two goals. But, even if they open the scoring here, as they’ve done in all nine of their previous road trips, Antonio Conte’s men may end up empty-handed – they won just five of those nine games (D2, L2). The traveling fans also have to be wary of the fact that Inter have won only once in their last four trips to Naples (D1, L2).
