Napoli vs Fiorentina 16/09/18

16 September 2018

A complicated schedule for Napoli at the start of the season is about to get even more challenging, as Gli Azzurri shall host Fiorentina at the Stadio San Paolo after suffering a disastrous 3-0 defeat to Sampdoria on the road.

Since taking charge of the Little Donkeys, Carlo Ancelotti has failed to see his side taking the lead in all of three matches they’ve played so far. In their first encounter in front of the home supporters this season, the last year’s runners-up pulled off a stunning comeback against AC Milan, managing to catch up a 2-goal deficit, eventually winning the game by three goals to two. At the Stadio Olimpico, on the opening matchday, Ciro Immobile scored a goal to put Lazio in front, but Arkadiusz Milik and Lorenzo Insigne secured the three points for Napoli.

Meanwhile, Stefano Pioli’s side, who saw their opening league match getting postponed due to a horrible tragedy in Geona, swept Chievo Verona aside with an outstanding 6-1 victory in the second matchday before securing a tight 1-0 triumph over Udinese just before the international break. However, the Viola have lost four out of last five matches at the Stadio San Paolo barely managing to remain undefeated last season, as Pioli intends to end a stressful streak this weekend.

Ancelotti won’t have Alex Meret, Vlad Chiriches, and Amin Younes at his disposal, as all are struggling with injuries. As for the visitors, Alban Lafont and Abdou Diakhate will have to remain on the stands due to unknown physical problems.
