Morocco vs Argentina 27/03/19

27 March 2019

After a 3-1 fiasco against Venezuela, Argentina head towards Tangier for a friendly encounter with Morocco that takes place at the Stade de Tanger.

The hosts come into this meeting after racking up a seven-game unbeaten run (W4, D3). All four of the Atlas Lions’ wins in that period have seen the beating their rivals to nil, while two of their three draws have ended with the identical 2-2 scoreline. Hervé Renard’s men have kept a clean sheet in three consecutive games in the build-up to this clash, with all three of those matches producing under 2.5 goals. Interestingly, Morocco have conceded a goal in just one of seven outings in the post-World Cup period, scoring over 1.5 goals per match three times in the process.

Meanwhile, Leo Messi’s return to the national team has done a little good to the South America giants, as they were outplayed by Venezuela in a friendly challenge a few days ago. La Albiceleste will face-off Morocco without Barcelona superstar looking to post their fifth victory in seventh game after the final tournament (W4, D1, L2). Argentina’s main strength under Lionel Scaloni has been an impressive defense that has kept five clean sheets, allowing over 1.5 goals per match only once in seven clashes. Interestingly, just three of seven Argentina’s post-World Cup meetings have produced over 2.5 goals, with La Albiceleste scoring 2+ match goals on four occasions along the way.
