Monaco vs Strasbourg 27/09/20

27 September 2020

Monaco will be looking to return to winning ways in Ligue 1when they take on Strasbourg at the Stade Louis II this weekend.

Monaco squandered a 1-0 lead in the final ten minutes of their Matchday 4 showdown against Rennes to suffer their first Ligue 1 defeat of the season (W2, D1). Indeed, a 2-1 loss to Rennes means that three of the hosts’ four league matches in 2020/21 have seen over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Another high-scoring affair is well on the cards, as all five of their previous top-flight H2H clashes have featured 3+ match goals, with both sides hitting the net in each. Despite losing three of their last four Ligue 1 H2Hs (D1), ‘Les Monégasques’ can draw on the fact they enter this round unbeaten in five consecutive home league outings (W3, D2).

On the other hand, Strasbourg had suffered three consecutive league defeats at the beginning of the season before pulling off a narrow 1-0 home win over Dijon last time out. Each loss came via a two-goal margin, with the majority (85.71%) of the goals conceded across those failures coming in the second half of play (6/7). For ‘Les Coureurs,’ goals have been at a premium away from in 2020, as they’ve netted under 1.5 goals in six of seven Ligue 1 trips since the calendar flipped. On the flip side, they’ve scored over 2.5 goals in two of their last top-flight fixtures held in Monaco, winning both.
