Manchester United vs Valencia 03/10/18
03 October 2018
Manchester United will be facing off against Valencia at the Old Trafford amid a severe crisis that threatens to see Jose Mourinho getting fired.
Although the Red Devils started their Champions League adventure with a 3-0 win over Young Boys in Switzerland, the Carabao Cup elimination by Derby County and a miserable 3-1 defeat to West Ham United last weekend have infuriated the local fans who now want to see the former Inter Milan manager leaving the bench as soon as possible. Additionally, after that win over the Swiss champions, the 3-time Champions League winners failed to beat Wolverhampton at home, playing out a 1-1 draw, as they currently trail Manchester City and Liverpool by nine points. A match against La Liga outfit may be decisive for Mourinho’s fate, as a potential failure could pave the way for Zinedine Zidane.
Meanwhile, the Bats have started the season off on the wrong foot five draws and one defeat in the opening six La Liga fixtures, as their first victory arrived last weekend at the Estadio Anoeta where they barely defeated Real Sociedad by a narrow 1-goal margin. Even in the Champions League opener, the Orangers have suffered a 2-0 loss to a 10-man Juventus after Cristiano Ronaldo’s expulsion already in the first half. Therefore, Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side must seek a positive outcome if looking to keep their chances of advancing to the knockout stage alive.
Sergio Romero, MarcosRojo, and Antonio Valencia are struggling with injuries and will remain on the stands, while Cristiano Piccini, Jose Gaya, and Santi Mina won’t be playing for the visitors.
