Manchester City vs Brighton & Hove Albion 10/05/18

10 May 2018

A disappointing 0-0 draw with Huddersfield at the Etihad Stadium last weekend has prevented Manchester City from matching Chelsea’s Premier League record of seventeen home wins in one season, but the Citizens will be looking for a victory against Brighton & Hove Albion at home, considering they have no commitments in other competitions. With one of the most dominant league campaigns in the recent history of the Premier League, the Sky Blues are just two victories away from achieving 100 points in a single EPL season, and looking at their attacking performance over the last couple of months, the Seagulls will have to come up with something special to avoid defeat at the Etihad Stadium. Chris Hughton has already accomplished his prime objective and kept his side in the English top flight despite the lack of star players within his ranks, so the visitors should play this game without any pressure. However, Brighton have lost seven out of their previous eleven matches on the road, without a single victory, and it’s hard to imagine this negative streak would end against the rampant Manchester City side, who won five out of last seven encounters at home, scoring nineteen goals in the process.

Guardiola won’t have Sergio Agüero at his disposal, but he could be happy to see Benjamin Mendy back to full fitness after almost nine months of absence. On the other hand, Steve Sidwell will be the only player missing in the visiting squad.
