Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund 21/07/18
21 July 2018
The current Premier League champions are set to kick off their preparation period at the Soldier Field stadium in Chicago, as they are set to face off against the German giants Borussia Dortmund in their first summer friendly after a season break. Probably the most dominant English team over the past six years who comfortably won the domestic championship, breaking a few records in the process, have huge ambitions ahead of the new season, as they desperately want to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history. That’s why the Citizens need to enter the new campaign wholly prepared, and a match against the Black and Yellows is one of those games that have enormous influence on the squad. On the other hand, Dortmund will have their first major test this summer under a new manager, Lucien Favre, who took charge of the team after the end of the season. The 2016 Bundesliga champions have already played one friendly earlier this month, barely managing to defeat Austria Wien by one goal to nil.
Pep Guardiola might decide to field Ryad Mahrez for the first time since his arrival from Leicester City, while Favre could introduce Thomas Delaney and Achraf Hakimi who joined the squad in this transfer market.
