Luzern vs Crystal Palace 10/07/19
10 July 2019
Luzern and Crystal Palace will face-off at the Tissot Arena in the opening match of the 2019 Uhren Cup.
The Swiss side has already played out three friendlies this summer, registering a partial success (W1, D1, L1), with two of those games featuring over 2.5 goals. Luzern’s matches over the past two months have not been short of entertainment, with seven of their last nine games producing over 2.5 goals, although just three of them saw goals at both ends. Interestingly, the Luminaries have kept a clean sheet in three of their last six outings, allowing over 1.5 match goals in the remaining three. Also, all four of their previous triumphs have seen them score three or more goals, while three of them saw them beat their rivals to nil.
Meanwhile, it will be Crystal Palace’s first warm-up game this summer, as they look to build on a strong finish to the Premier League campaign. The Eagles have racked up a four-game winning streak in the final stage of the season (W3, D1), netting 3+ match goals across all of those wins while allowing 2+ match goals in each. Also, six of Palace’s last ten outings have featured over 2.5 goals with all six seeing both team score. A potential worry for Roy Hodgson could be that his players have struggled to keep a clean sheet in seven of those ten games, conceding over 1.5 match goals in each.
