Liverpool vs Huddersfield Town 27/04/19

27 April 2019

Liverpool welcome dead-last Huddersfield Town to Anfield, looking to wrap up all three points as they still hope to prevail in the Premier League title run-in.

Sitting second at the table with a one-point deficit to Manchester City, with three league fixtures left to go, the hosts have no room for mistakes if they want to secure their first PL title in 30 years. Title-chasing Reds are on a promising nine-game winning run across all competitions, with all nine of those triumphs saw them score 2+ match goals. What’s more, the Merseysiders are unbeaten in 18 of their previous competitive home outings (W15, D3), with eight of ten of their last home wins saw them beating their rivals by a comfortable three-goal margin. Additionally, Liverpool are the only team in the PL that has yet to suffer a failure at home for this entire league campaign (W15, D2), with Jurgen Klopp’s men shipping fewer goals than any other side in the English top tier (10).

Meanwhile, rock-bottom visitors have already greeted the English top flight after enduring a disastrous league campaign (W3, D5, L27). The Terriers have not only picked up just six points on 17 PL road trips (W1, D3, L13) – league’s second-worst away record, but they’ve also lost all six of their previous PL road clashes, failing to find the net in five. Also, only Fulham (44) have conceded more goals on the road than Huddersfield (39) this term, with Jan Siewert’s men struggling for a clean sheet in 15 of 17 PL away games. The most worrying fact for the traveling fans is that the Terriers have failed to score in all three of their H2Hs with Liverpool since joining the top flight while allowing seven goals in the process. Given the fact, Huddersfield have scored just 11 goals away from home this term – joint-worst away record in the PL, that disappointing stat will hardly change this weekend.
