Liverpool vs Crystal Palace 19/01/19

19 January 2019

Liverpool welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield looking to stretch an impressive Premier League home run (W9, D1) as they remain the only unbeaten team at home this campaign.

The Merseysiders have racked up an eight-game home winning run in all competitions, as they now go after back-to-back wins over Crystal Palace at Anfield. Four of Liverpool’s last six PL home wins have seen them score over 2.5 goals per match, with Jurgen Klopp’s men conceding one goal or less in each. A 60% of Liverpool’s home clashes have produced over 2.5 goals, mainly thanks to their impressive backline. No team has shipped fewer goals than Liverpool (3) this campaign, with the leaders keeping a clean sheet in seven of their ten matches at Anfield. However, the Reds’ slight drop in form has seen them losing two of their previous three competitive outings, with both of their losses ended with the identical 2-1 scoreline.

Meanwhile, the visitors come into this meeting after a 2-1 home loss Watford, which was their second failure in their last five Premier League outings (W2, D1, L2). Still, the Glaziers have improved lately, especially when it comes to their defensive game. The Eagles have kept a clean sheet in four of their last seven competitive meetings, allowing over 1.5 goals per match only once in the process. Crystal Palace have gone from seven consecutive road trips without a victory (D1, L5) to two straight wins, scoring over 1.5 goals in each of those triumphs. However, a potential problem for Roy Hodgson could be that his players have failed to keep a clean sheet seven of their last nine away clashes, conceding over 1.5 goals per match six times in that period.
