Liverpool vs Brighton & Hove Albion 26/08/18
26 August 2018
After returning from a Selhurst trip, Liverpool will face off against Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield intending to extend their winning streak to seven. Jurgen Klopp’s attacking machine has demolished West Ham at home by four goals to nil in the opening Premier League match, after which they’ve maintained an impressive offensive record by beating Crystal Palace 2-0 on the road, which was Liverpool’s 20th goal in the last six matches. The Merseysiders had the second best-attacking record in the English top flight last season, and the former Borussia Dortmund boss doesn’t seem willing to abandon his football philosophy, which is why the visitors must come up with something special if looking to avoid a debacle. The Seagulls pulled off an outstanding 3-2 win over Manchester United last weekend following a 2-0 defeat to Watford in the first round, but the inability to keep a clean sheet might come costly against the rampant Reds’ attack. In two matches these two sides played last season, Chris Hughton’s team has conceded nine goals, while scoring only one, which implies they have troubles facing the 2006 Champions League winners.
Dejan Lovren and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are yet to return to action after suffering severe injuries and will have to remain on the stands. As for the visitors, Jose Izquierdo and Florin Andone will be the two most notable absences.
