Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund 23/07/18
23 July 2018
After defeating Manchester City 1-0 less than 48 hours ago, Borussia Dortmund will play a friendly match against Liverpool at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte looking to extend their winning streak to three consecutive games, as they also secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Austria Wien earlier this month. Lucien Favre hopes to prepare his team as best as he can before the start of new Bundesliga campaign in which the Black and Yellows should be the principal contenders for the title alongside Bayern Munich who won their seventh league title in a row last season. After the end of the season, Dortmund featured in a total of four friendly matches recording two consecutive draws before achieving the aforementioned wins. On the other hand, the Reds participated in four friendlies against the English low league teams, including Chester, Tranmere, and Blackburn, securing three wins, while playing out a disappointing 0-0 draw with Bury. So, a match against the German heavyweights is going to be a first high big game after the break, with Jürgen Klopp looking to face off against his former club.
Mohamed Salah returned to training process recently, but it is hard to expect he’d start from the first minute for the Merseysiders, while Marco Reus, Andre Schurrle, and Achraf Hakimi might find themselves in the starting eleven after skipping the game against the Citizens.
