Liverpool vs Sevilla 22/07/19
22 July 2019
Sevilla and Liverpool will face-off at Fenway Park in a friendly meeting, with Liverpool searching for their first win over La Liga outfit in the 21st century (D2, L1).
The two met each other in the Europa League final in 2016, with Sevilla clinching a 3-1 win. The Reds also struggled to pick up a triumph when the two sides met in the 2017-18 Champions League group stage, having been held to 2-2 and 3-3 draws.
Los Rojiblancos have been impressive in their pre-season so far, putting together three wins from as many outings. Although they’ve failed to keep a clean sheet in that span, they’ve scored two or more goals across all of those games. Notably, seven of Sevilla’s last ten matches gave produced over 2.5 goals although just five have seen both teams score.
Meanwhile, the Reds come into this clash off the back of a 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund, which was their first loss in the preparations so far. Before that, the Merseysiders have secured back-to-back wins over the English lower-league sides, Tranmere Rovers and Bradford City, scoring nine goals while conceding just one in the process. Notably, all 19 of Liverpool’s previous triumphs since late January have seen them score two or more goals, with Allison Becker keeping a clean sheet ten times along the way.
