Leicester City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers 11/08/19

11 August 2019

Leicester City will kick off the 2019-20 Premier League campaign in front of the home crowd as they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the King Power Stadium in the first round of the PL fixtures.

The hosts have enjoyed a successful pre-season, securing five wins in six friendlies this summer (W5, D1). While five of those games saw the Foxes score over 1.5 match goals, just two have seen them keep a clean sheet. Also, four of Leicester’s triumphs in that period have been settled by a narrow one-goal margin, with three of them ending with the same 2-1 scoreline. Brendan Rodgers’ men have lost only one of their previous six home games in the PL (W4, D1, L1), restricting their rivals to a maximum of one goal per match in all of those matches while scoring 2+ match goals four times in the process. Leicester will now look to stretch their unbeaten home run against Wolves to four games (W2, D1), with the Wanderers scoring just one goal across those three H2H meetings.

Meanwhile, the visitors come into this encounter after securing three straight victories in the Europa League Qualifiers, scoring ten goals while conceding just one during the run. Also, Wolves have won the biennial pre-season tournament, Premier League Asia Trophy, before taking participation in the EL Qualifiers. After beating Newcastle United 4-0 in the semi-finals, the Wanderers have defeated Manchester City in the final after a penalty shootout after the game ended in a 0-0 draw. What’s more, a run of impressive form since late April has seen Wolverhampton pull off seven wins in nine outings (W7, D1, L1) ever since, netting 2+ match goals five times while preventing their opponents from scoring over 1.5 match goals eight times in the process.
