Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur
Rajamangala Stadium is the venue as Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City meet in an exciting pre-season friendly.
Tottenham would want to forget the 2022/23 Premier League season as soon as possible after missing out on European qualification for the first time in over a decade. Controversial chairman Daniel Levy sacked manager Antonio Conte toward the end of the season but only appointed Ange Postecoglou as the new chief of staff last month. Postecoglou didn’t enjoy a memorable touchline debut by any stretch of the imagination as West Ham United overcame his ‘Spurs’ 3-2 in their opening summer friendly. That result extended Tottenham’s run without a draw to six matches (W2, L4), five of which saw over 2.5 goals and both teams on the scoresheet. Another high-scoring contest may not bode well for the London outfit, as they’ve lost six of their last nine games that featured 3+ goals (W2, D1).
Speaking of a dreadful 2022/23 season, Leicester City must know a thing or two after relinquishing their top-flight status only seven years after conquering the Premier League against the odds. Not even the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers in April helped the ‘Foxes’ stay afloat, as his successor Dean Smith couldn’t prevent the club’s relegation to the Championship despite beating West Ham 2-1 on the final weekend. That victory at least saved him some dignity ahead of his exit, with new boss Enzo Maresca brought in to orchestrate a coveted comeback. The Italian has won both summer friendlies in charge of Leicester, dispatching Northampton Town and Oud-Heverlee Leuven by an aggregate score of 5-2.
