Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur 21/09/19

21 September 2019

Leicester City will host Tottenham Hotspur to the King Power Stadium for a Premier League (PL) showdown that will kick-off Saturday’s action in the English top tier.

The hosts go into this encounter off the back of a narrow 1-0 away loss to Manchester United, which was the fourth consecutive time that they failed to keep a clean sheet. Still, it was also their only defeat in the English top-flight this term (W2, D2, L1), with three of those matches featuring under 2.5 goals. Taking into account their results from the final stage of the last season, the Foxes are unbeaten in four consecutive PL home outings (W2, D2). Such a run of form can be useful now, as they face a team who outplayed them in three of their last five PL H2Hs here (W1, D1, L3). But, if Leicester do pull off a win here, it will probably see them score two or more goals, as each of their five PL home triumphs since the turn of the year witnessed them bag 2+ match goals.

On the other hand, the visitors disappointed in their Champions League curtain-raiser, being held to a 2-2 away draw to Olympiacos at the midweek. The Spurs have struggled to impress in the domestic championship so far too, registering partial success in the first five rounds of the PL fixtures (W2, D2, L1). Interestingly, both of those stalemates have arrived away from home and have ended with the identical 2-2 scoreline. A potential worry for the traveling side could be a lack of concentration in the first half, as they’ve conceded at least one goal in four of five first halves of PL football played so far. But, a much bigger issue for Mauricio Pochettino is the fact his side has struggled to secure a single PL away win since January (D2, L6), allowing precisely two goals in six of those trips.
