Leicester City vs Manchester United

Leicester City and Manchester United will trade tackles at the King Power Stadium in one of the most exciting match-ups on the weekend’s Premier League football schedule.

The international break couldn’t have come at a better moment for Leicester, as they head into proceedings winless in four straight Premier League fixtures. The hosts have gone from a pair of one-goal defeats to a brace of 2-2 draws with Burnley and Crystal Palace. As a consequence, they welcomed the international window in 13th, six points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester United. Brendan Rodgers’ men can ill-afford to lose more ground on the Premier League top four places if they are to improve upon last season’s fifth-place finish. However, after going winless in their last three competitive fixtures at the King Power Stadium (D2, L1), Leicester’s prospects of putting together three straight competitive wins over Man United for the first time since November 1901 look far-fetched.

Meanwhile, Manchester United endured a dip in form on the eve of the international break, going from three Premier League victories in a row to back-to-back league matches without winning (D1, L1). Despite their uneventful showings of late, the ‘Red Devils’ are very much in contention for their first Premier League title in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era as they trail pacesetters Chelsea by a mere two points. Back by their record-breaking 29-match unbeaten top-flight streak away from home (W19, D10), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be looking to extend their six-game undefeated league run against Leicester (W3, D3). United can draw confidence from their pretty free-scoring form during that sequence, as they’ve netted 2+ goals in four of those six encounters, including the last two on the trot. That is a sharp contrast to their recent scoring return in the Premier League, as they’ve accrued just one goal from their previous two league outings.
