Leicester City vs Liverpool 01/09/18

01 September 2018

Leicester City’s encouraging start of the season is set to face a huge obstacle, with Liverpool preparing to arrive at the King Power Stadium this weekend. The Foxes have achieved two consecutive wins in the Premier League, over Wolverhampton at home and Southampton on the road following a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on the opening matchday, and they managed to maintain a good form during the midweek, demolishing lower-league side Fleetwood Town by four goals to nil. Despite the departure of Riyad Mahrez, who joined Manchester City this summer, Claude Puel believes his current roster has the capacity to reach the European scene after two below average seasons. Meanwhile, the Reds have been outstanding since the start of the EPL campaign, recording three straight wins without conceding a goal. The Merseysiders have hammered West Ham United in the first season’s fixture, 4-0, after which they comfortably defeated Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring three more goals in the process. Although Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to beat Leicester City on the road last year, they have suffered three losses in the previous five matches at the King Power Stadium, which implies they have difficulties facing the 2016 Premier League winners.

Matty James and Caglar Söyüncü are sidelined with injuries, while Jamie Vardy won’t be available after picking up a red card against Wolves. As for the visitors, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be the only player to skip the encounter.
