Leicester City vs Chelsea 12/05/19

12 May 2019

Mid-table Leicester City and third-placed Chelsea go head-to-head at the King Power Stadium for the final Premier League fixture of the season.

The hosts have endured another average season as they face mid-table finish with a mediocre record of 15 wins, six draws, and 16 losses. The Foxes come into this meeting after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, which was their second failure in the last four PL fixtures (W1, D1, L2). Leicester’s immense defensive problems have seen them concede at least one goal per match in 15 of 17 PL outings in 2019 while allowing over 1.5 match goals six times in the process. However, Brendan Rodgers’ players have been outstanding at home over the past three months, picking up four wins in their last five PL home clashes (W4, L1), scoring 2+ match goals across all of those triumphs.

The visitors go into this clash off the back of an exhausting Europa League encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt that has seen Chelsea reach the big final after penalties. Although they’ve endured mixed fortunes in their last five Premier League games (W2, D2, L1), the Blues have already sealed top-four finish thanks to a 3-0 home win over Watford last time out. But, the Pensioners have struggled to impress away from home this campaign, as seven of their eight PL defeats have come on the road, with five of those losses saw them failed to find the net. Also, Maurizio Sarri’s men have scored one goal or less in six of eight PL away games in 2019, keeping barely one blank sheet in the process. Still, if Chelsea win here, it will probably be followed by a minimum of two goals, given the fact they’ve scored over 1.5 match goals in eight of nine PL road wins this term.
